Aesthetic treatments with a clinician in the building.

Botox, laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation and non-surgical body contouring — for men and women, inside a medical clinic rather than a storefront.

The aesthetic treatment room at Twenty-One Medical

Medical-grade equipment, under medical supervision.

The equipment matters, but so does who is standing next to it. Aesthetic treatments here are delivered inside a medical clinic by staff working with a provider on site — not at a storefront where no clinician is in the building.

Botox

Botox for the lines that come from movement — frown lines between the brows, forehead lines and crow's feet. It is a short in-office treatment, administered under medical supervision.

How much is appropriate, where, and how often are clinical decisions made at your consultation rather than sold as a package. If Botox is not the right answer for what is bothering you, you will be told that.

Laser hair removal

Permanent hair reduction for face and body, for men and women. Treatment runs as a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart, because hair grows in cycles and the laser only affects follicles that are actively growing at the time.

  • Consultation first, so you get a realistic session count for your hair and skin — not a number off an ad
  • Men's treatments are a substantial part of what we do, including back, chest and shoulders
  • Sessions run as a series spaced several weeks apart; how many you need depends on the area being treated and how your hair responds

Laser skin rejuvenation

Laser skin treatments for tone, texture and general sun damage. What is appropriate depends on your skin type and what is actually bothering you, which is decided at the consultation rather than picked off a list.

Body contouring

Non-surgical body contouring for stubborn areas that have not responded to diet and activity. Because it is offered inside a medical clinic, it can sit alongside the medical weight-loss program rather than being sold as a replacement for it — contouring addresses shape in a specific area, not overall weight.

Which approach suits you, how many sessions it takes and what is realistic are covered at the consultation.

The aesthetics menu

Pricing varies by treatment, by area and by the number of sessions involved. Aesthetic treatments are not covered by insurance. Call 704-227-5060 for current pricing, or ask at the consultation.

Before your session

You will get instructions specific to you and to the area being treated at your consultation. In general, for laser hair removal:

  • Shave the area the day before or the morning of — if the hair is left long the laser hits the hair rather than the follicle, which is what the treatment needs to reach
  • Do not wax, pluck, thread or use depilatory creams for several weeks beforehand — these remove the follicle the laser needs to find
  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds on the area, and skip self-tanner — treating recently tanned skin raises the risk of burns and pigment changes
  • Mention retinoids, acne medication and antibiotics — some increase light sensitivity and may mean rescheduling
  • Come with the area clean, free of lotion, deodorant and makeup
  • Tell us about any active infection, cold sore, rash or open skin in the area — we will reschedule rather than treat over it
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of keloid scarring or a photosensitising condition, say so at the consultation. It changes what is appropriate.

Common questions

Does it hurt?

Laser hair removal is generally painless. Most people describe it as a brief snap rather than a burn, and sensitivity varies by area. Botox involves a few small injections and is over quickly.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the treatment, the area, your hair and your skin. Anyone who gives you a number before looking at you is guessing. You will get a realistic range at the consultation.

Can men be treated?

Yes, and a good share of our laser hair removal patients are men — back, chest and shoulders in particular.

Should I shave or wax before a session?

Shave, do not wax. Shaving leaves the follicle intact for the laser to target; waxing and plucking remove it, which is why they are ruled out for several weeks beforehand.

Can I be treated if I have a tan?

Not safely. Recently tanned or self-tanned skin raises the risk of burns and pigment changes, so we will ask you to let it fade and reschedule.

Is body contouring a substitute for weight loss?

No. Contouring addresses shape in a specific area; it is not a weight-loss treatment. If weight is the goal, the medical weight-loss program is the right starting point, and the two can be discussed together.

Is any of this covered by insurance?

No. Aesthetic treatments are self-pay. Call the office for current pricing.
